A definitive guide to affiliate marketing on Facebook Ads

Facebook, the world’s biggest social network, provides a lucrative opportunity for affiliates. At MyConstant, we collaborated with MoneyMade to take an innovative approach to affiliate marketing with Facebook Ads. It proved to be a success for both parties and shows how we can boost your affiliate earnings.

Affiliate marketing has been around for a while, with the concept first patented in 1989. It took hold on the internet in the mid-1990s, when ecommerce giant Amazon launched its Amazon Affiliates program, now one of the largest in the world. Initially a basic model, Amazon paid a set fee to its “associates” for sharing product links on their websites.

What is affiliate marketing ?

In short, affiliate marketing is a way of earning a commission by inserting links to another company’s products or services on your website. The commission is earned from a portion of the profit made when a referee buys that product. If you are starting out, be sure to read our previous blog: What to look out for before signing up to any affiliate program.

I will go through how Facebook can be an integral part of your affiliate business. Mastering how to run Facebook ads for affiliate marketing doesn’t have to be rocket science. With a bit of patience and savvy, you could potentially double your earnings with Facebook ads.

With well over two billion active users and a comprehensive advertising platform, Facebook is a potentially lucrative source of income. As affiliates, there are a few steps you can take to leverage the world’s leading social network to grow your income. I will get to Facebook ads eventually, but let’s lay the groundwork first.

Organically grow your Facebook audience

If you already have a significant and engaged audience, you can skip the next two sections, but it is essential to ensure you have a following to promote to.

The first step is to have a Facebook page for your affiliate website and start filling it with high-quality content from your site and other reliable sources. The backlinks are valuable in terms of SEO, and by sharing third-party content, you are expanding your reach through likes and shares.

From an SEO perspective, you should include keywords in your Facebook content – whether it’s status updates or longer posts on topics. Inserting links in those posts will also help drive traffic to your Facebook page.

It’s also important to look beyond your page, and share content on external pages relevant to your niches. For example, if you were promoting financial products, it would make sense to provide valuable and engaging content on reputable investors or stock market groups.

There is no “quick-fix” to organically growing your audience on Facebook, but consistently creating engaging, useful, and relevant content will yield results.

Engage with your audience

The next step is to build an engaged following on Facebook. This involves a similar approach to the one taken with growing your audience, but with more personalization. For example, responding quickly to any queries, creating events, and hosting live chats.

The trick is not to oversell the products you want your followers to buy. Your page should be where people come for advice, tips, and general conversation about their interests.

Making your page a safe and entertaining space for your niche is a surefire way to build an engaged following. It does not have to be thousands of followers. A few hundred engaged members are far more valuable to you than a few thousand disengaged ones.

Launch a Facebook Ads campaign

One of the best things about Facebook’s advertising platform is that you can customize it to match your objectives. The first page you see when setting up a campaign asks about your goals:

As an affiliate, you want to either get more website visitors or get more leads so people click on your links to make purchases. Once you have clicked on your goal, you’ll go through to the next page:

This is the page where you set up your Facebook advertising campaign. You can control your budget, the length of time you want to run the campaign, and most importantly, decide your target audience. This is where your engaged followers will come into their own.

You can use member data to help guide you towards the right target audience. By running multiple campaigns, you can build a more complete profile of your market and potential leads, alongside assessing the most effective advertising strategy.

The choice of image is pivotal. Given its small size, you don’t want to clutter it with too much information. Also, use bold colors to stand out. It’s better to have a singular message on your campaign, too. Something like “Special offer – Exclusive $100 bonus deposit!” would grab the attention and offer good value to anyone who clicks through.

However, do not overpromise. First impressions are everything, and if that first impression is disappointment, then they will not come back to you.

So, in a nutshell, here’s what you need to do:

  • Strengthen your Facebook presence: Affiliates looking to use Facebook should already have a strong presence on the platform. You don’t need to have thousands of followers – a smaller community of a few hundred active members can prove equally lucrative if they are engaged.
  • Create targeted ad campaigns: Facebook Ads does allow affiliate marketers to run targeted campaigns, but it’s essential to understand how to use the platform to reach the right audience. Having a criteria and checklist would be useful.
  • Track your campaigns: A key benefit of using Facebook Ads for affiliate marketing is the ability to track campaign performance in real-time. This enables you to adjust the targeting and budgets to improve your campaigns’ effectiveness and, therefore, increase revenue.

If you have an active Facebook presence, there’s plenty of opportunity to use the platform to drive traffic to merchants and grow your income. Recently, we worked with one of our leading affiliates to sponsor a Facebook campaign, which I’ll discuss now.

Case Study: Using Facebook Ads for Affiliate Marketing

We’re always looking for ways to collaborate with our stakeholders, including affiliates. When the opportunity came up to support one of our leading affiliates, MoneyMade, we jumped at the chance.

MoneyMade has a community of around 500 engaged members on Facebook, all interested in investment opportunities. MyConstant sponsored a Facebook Ads campaign on MoneyMade’s account and targeted its members and associates, which resulted in huge rewards for our affiliate.

In the end, we ran five different ads within the campaign, and we were able to track each ad’s performance. This helped us focus on the more effective ads, adjusting the criteria as the campaign went on.

The results were extremely positive for both of us. After 20 days, we signed up 314 people at a click-through-rate (CTR) of 2.46%, which is high for the industry. Our affiliate MoneyMade increased revenue and exposure at no cost. For our first such collaboration, it was a resounding success, and we will be looking to do more in the future.

MyConstant’s flexible and rewarding Affiliates Program

MyConstant offers you a flexible and rewarding program that allows you to be creative and entrepreneurial. Unlike other programs, we put no restrictions on the source of the referees, or the number of people you refer to us. For example, some programs do not allow affiliates to use advertising or social media to refer customers – we do not have such rules.

Here’s what you get with MyConstant’s innovative affiliate program:

  • Instant $20 payments on referees who make a minimum $10 deposit.
  • $100 commission when you refer ten people who deposit within 30 days of referral.
  • If your referrals deposit $500,000 within 90 days, you will receive $1,000.
  • You will also receive 20% of referees’ instant-access investment interest, paid out every second.
  • Help with ad copy, design, and banners.

As long as a referee has your specific cookie when they make a deposit within 30 days, you will get your share. It is an affiliate-friendly program, and it aims to reward you generously.

We welcome creative and entrepreneurial affiliates who are passionate about finance and crypto. We strongly advise all potential affiliate partners to sign up to MyConstant to understand the customer journey and the benefits we can offer to customers.

By working together, we can grow both our businesses.
